Abstract

Johan Helmich Roman (1694-1758) was Sweden's first prominent composer. The suite Bilägers Musiquen (the 'Nuptials Music' also known as the Drottningholmsmusiken) was composed for one of the most illustrious celebrations of the century - the royal wedding in the summer of 1744 between heir to the throne, Adolf Fredrik, and the Prussian princess Louisa Ulrika. The orchestral work is in 24 movements, with a total duration of approximately 60-90 minutes. This is a critical edition by B. Tommy Andersson with basso continuo part by Terence Charlston. It was published by Swedish Musical Heritage, the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in 2019, edition no. 2066, ISMN 979-0-66166-608-0.
