SOLARIS

Fujikura, D. (2015) SOLARIS. [Composition]

Abstract

Opera, duration 90 minutes. Premiered on 5 March 2017 by Opera Lillie and Ensemble intercontemporain at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Paris, France. 3D video by Ulf Langheinrich and live electronics by Gilbert Nouno. "The science-fiction novel Solaris tells the tale of a scientist on a mission to the planet Solaris, where he discovers a vast ocean of matter that mysteriously alters human perception. The composer Dai Fujikura and the choreographer Saburo Teshigawara reproduce the haunting atmosphere of the book to create an opera in which there reigns an obsessive strangeness, mixed with 3D images and electro-acoustic music performed by the Ensemble intercontemporain in collaboration with Ircam." © Opera Lillie
