About RCM Research Online

RCM Research Online is the institutional repository for research produced by the Royal College of Music, London. Research at the RCM embraces the creative, cultural and scientific study of music through a diverse range of projects in performance, composition, musicology, music education and performance science. Research directly informs teaching and learning across the College and beyond.

The RCM is committed to disseminating its research and scholarship as widely as possible to academic and non-academic audiences. RCM Research Online is an open access resource which aims to provide information about the RCM’s research, and to make research outputs freely available to the public where possible. It includes publications, audio and video recordings, music scores, and doctoral theses. Where items cannot be made fully open access due to copyright, links are provided to published versions.

Terms of Use

Open access items on RCM Research Online are made available under the licences stated on their individual entries. Where no other licence is specified a standard copyright licence (‘all rights reserved’) applies. Some third-party material within open access items may be available under a different licence than that of the item itself and may therefore require copyright holder permission for re-use. All items may be reproduced where this can be justified under the exceptions to copyright given in the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, as amended and revised.
