Abstract

For clarinet, horn, bassoon and string quintet, duration 15 minutes. This work was commissioned by the Cologne Philharmonie for the Scharoun Ensemble and is dedicated to Sandy and Jimmy Brown. It was premiered by the Scharoun Ensemble on 12 September 1993 at the Cologne Philharmonie. The piece has two movements, 'Dance' and 'Dirge' and has been recorded by the Nash Ensemble (Onyx Classics, ONYX4005), see https://onyxclassics.com/release/turnage-this-silence/.
