Abstract

For keyboard instrument, duration c. 5 minutes. This work is a short fantasia for keyboard, using quarter-comma mean-tone tuning, in homage to the composer William Lawes, court musician to King Charles the First. He was killed during the English Civil War as he rode with his King at the siege of Chester 24 September 1645. A recording is available on SoundCloud (see the audio tab below).
