Vecherinka for 6 pianos (in 5 hands)

Hesketh, K. (2009) Vecherinka for 6 pianos (in 5 hands). [Composition]

Abstract

For six pianos, duration 7 minutes. This is an arrangement of 'Vecherinka for two pianos (in five hands)' (see #1502 on this repository) commissioned by Piano Circus and completed in 2009. It is based on the party scene from the first act of the composer's opera, The Overcoat (after Gogol). Vecherinka is the Russian word for party or festive gathering, and the five hands of the title refers to games or ‘hands’ of cards which take place during the party.
