The Coroner’s Report is the second of three satellite pieces connected with the 2003 music-theatre piece 'Who put Bella in the wych elm?' (see https://researchonline.rcm.ac.uk/id/eprint/1425/), which concerns the unsolved case of a woman’s body found stuffed in a wych elm in the early 1940s by four boys out bird’s nesting. The piece was commissioned by the BBC and first performed on 6 September 2004 at the BBC Proms by the Britten Sinfonia conducted by Nicholas Daniel.
