Abstract
For soprano and orchestra, duration 12 minutes. This piece sets anonymous 12th and 14th century texts reflecting the fecundity of nature: I) Summer is icumen in; II) Now Springes the Spray!; III) I loved a childe. This work was originally composed in 1992 and the premiere was given on 9 March 1994 by Angela Henkel (soprano) and the Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra conducted by Patrick Bailey. It was revised in 1997.
