Abstract

For baritone and chamber ensemble, texts translated by Bernard Lewis, duration 18 minutes. In six sections: I) The Spheres and Signs; II) A Cloud heavy with water; III) Interlude (instrumental); IV) This is wine!; V) O New Moon; VI) Life's Calamities. This work was commissioned by the Continuum Ensemble and premiered by them with Rodney Clarke (baritone), conducted by Philip Headlam on 6 June 2006.
