Abstract
For baritone and large ensemble, with texts by Rudyard Kipling, Isaac Rosenberg, Wilfred Owen, Charles Sorley and Siegfried Sassoon. Duration 25 minutes. This work was commissioned by Birmingham Contemporary Music Group with financial assistance from West Midlands Arts and Sound Investors through BCMG's Sound Investment scheme. A memorial to World War I from the viewpoints of poets of the period, it was premiered in Berlin on 17 September 2002 by Gerald Finley (baritone) and Birmingham Contemporary Music Group conducted by Alexander Briger.
