Abstract

For jazz trio, big band, and orchestra, duration 80 minutes, composed by Mark-Anthony Turnage based on tunes by John Scofield. This work was commissioned by the Society of Friends and Patrons of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra. It was premiered on 7 September 2002 by John Scofield (electric guitar), John Patitucci (electric bass), Peter Erskine (drums), the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the hr-Big Band, conducted by Hugh Wolff. The premiere was recorded for Deutsche Grammophon (catalogue no. 4747292), see https://www.deutschegrammophon.com/en/catalogue/products/turnagescofield-scorched-10558 and was nominated for a Grammy Award for best classical crossover album in 2004.
