Yet another set to

Turnage, M.-A. (2004) Yet another set to. [Composition]

Abstract

For trombone and orchestra, duration 20 minutes. This work has three movements: I) Cut Up; II) A Soothing Interlude; III) Another Set To. The first movement is an adaptation of the seventh movement of Blood on the Floor (1994-95) (see https://researchonline.rcm.ac.uk/id/eprint/1960/); the central slow movement was newly composed, and the piece ends with the original Another Set To (see https://researchonline.rcm.ac.uk/id/eprint/1997/). Yet Another Set To was premiered on 19 March 2005 by Christian Lindberg (trombone) and the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Marin Alsop at the Royal Festival Hall, London. This performance was recorded (LPO Recordings, LPO–0007) see https://www.lpo.org.uk/recordings-and-gifts/24-cd-turnage-scherzoid-evening-songs-etc.html, and this recording is now available on YouTube, see the video tab below. Christian Lindberg has also recorded the work with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Peter Rundel (BIS, BIS-1638 SACD), see https://bis.se/performers/lindberg-christian/dedicated-to-christian-lindberg.
