Kittos, H. (2001) Eisodion. [Composition]
Abstract
For solo violin, duration 13 minutes. Written for James Widden and first performed on 6th June 2001, Bantock Room, TCM, London. Eisodion is a kind of entrance ritual, like the ones that can be found in several religions or cultures: ritualistic procedures which are kept for joining a diversity of groups/teams, or specific celebrations/ceremonies for entering adulthood, manhood etc. The idea for the piece came to me during my 30th birthday as a tribute/game/celebration for entering my third decade and realising some of my identities.
