Abstract

For chamber ensemble, duration 12 minutes. Torturous Instruments forms the second work in a trilogy for chamber ensemble entitled TRINITA, the other pieces being Circling Canopy of Night (see https://researchonline.rcm.ac.uk/id/eprint/204/) and Theatrum (see https://researchonline.rcm.ac.uk/id/eprint/1486/). Originally composed in 1998, this piece was premiered on 28 May 1998 by the Continuum Ensemble conducted by Philip Headlam and has since been performed by the London Sinfonietta and the RNCM New Ensemble. It was revised in 2009.
