Hesketh, K. (2014) IMMH. [Composition]
Abstract
For solo violoncello, duration 6 minutes. This piece was premiered on 16 February 2014 by Anton Lukoszevieze at Kettle's Yard, Cambridge. "This work is recorded on the Prima Facie label by the cellist Joseph Spooner. Dedicated to the memory of Michael Harrison, director of Kettle’s Yard (from 1992 - 2011), IMMH is a short, imagined shamanic ritual, marking the passage from life to death, a psychopompic ritual if you will. I'm sure Michael would have found the idea amusing, particularly given his dry wit and no-nonsense demeanour. Yet his appreciation and understanding of art, be it visual or musical, was a serious matter, and his indelible, personal and stylistic stamp left on the space and atmosphere of the gallery at Kettle's Yard will ensure that something of his spirit will always remain there. RIP." © Kenneth Hesketh. For details of Joseph Spooner's recording (Prima Facie Records PFCD051) see https://ascrecords.com/primafacie/land_so_luminous.html.
