Abstract

For SATB chorus (divisi, with solos), duration 16 minutes. This work was commissioned by BBC Radio 3 as part of the composer's residency at the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and the composition of the piece was supported by a residency in Patagonia funded by British Council Wales as part of the Patagonia 150 project. The six choral movements explore texts relating to Patagonia, in particular the indigenous Tehuelche people and the Welsh Colony, or Y Wladfa, that settled in Argentina in 1865. The premiere was given by the BBC National Chorus of Wales, conducted by Adrian Partington at Hoddinott Hall in Cardiff on 15 November 2015.
