Pitt, J. (2018) Tri-borough Early Years Music Consortium (Tri-Music Together) Evaluation Report. Project Report. Youth Music, London.
Abstract
Tri-Music Together (TMT) is an early childhood workforce development music project taking place across three local authorities across three London Boroughs – Hammersmith and Fulham; Kensington and Chelsea; Westminster. The project was initiated by the Tri-borough Music Hub (TBMH). Music Hubs in England are currently not granted government funding to support EY music activity. TMT is therefore exploring how Music Hubs can have a strategic role in supporting music in the EY. The TBMH created a consortium of partners with an interest in developing music provision for children aged birth to five. There are fourteen members of the consortium, the members include state funded EY services, not for profit arts organisations, charities and performance venues. The project was funded by Youth Music, 2016-2018; throughout that time the project delivered: 38 training sessions; 2 three-day courses; 11 inset training days; A mini-project involving 10 settings and 12 musicians; 4 sharing sessions. So far, TMT has engaged with 148 musicians; 294 Early Years Practitioners / Teachers from 120 early years settings. The aim of Tri-Music Together was to develop early years music provision across the three boroughs through a workforce development programme of targeted support and continuing professional development. An aspect of the project was to create resources to support early childhood music and to create a legacy.
