Abstract
The Cyfarthfa Brass Band was founded in 1838 by Robert Thompson Crawshay, owner of the Cyfarthfa Ironworks at Merthyr Tydfil. The band's repertoire survives in 105 partbooks. A complete list of the band's repertoire accompanies speculations on its formation and the role of moderators of taste in 19th-c. Merthyr Tydfil.
